Watch Me......

AP has been out of sorts. She has a lot on her mind lately so yesterday I thought I'd do a couple things to cheer her up.

1st I did my best "look how handsome I am" pose in my wheels in the snow.

Then when she got home from work I did my "watch me" stand and walk for her.....

Then I let her sleep for 5 hours straight before getting her up.
Yup just doing my part to make her happy.

Making a Snowman

I have been out playing in the "whole lotta" snow in the backyard. AP was trying to save the trees that were bent all the way to the ground and confusing me. There is not supposed to be a tree on my potty spot. She decided I should learn how to make a snowman so we started at the top of the yard and pushed the snow down the hill. It got really big and I was trying to bite it so we ended up wrestling in the snow instead of making the snowman.

AP here: Tonka and I woke up today to snow on the ground which was supposed to just be rain. We headed out on our morning walk and we were having so much fun at the park. Tonka was shoveling snow with his nose in between playing duck, duck, goose and it started to rain a little. The next thing I know its pelting down ice, and not little pieces of ice -big hunks of ice - that hurt. I looked over at Tonk and he was blinking his eyes really quick and shaking his head with a panicked look. I grabbed him up by the collar and we ran for the woods. We got under the trees and it was still coming down so we ducked under the jungle gym and hid out for awhile until it eased up.

Polar Dog

AP here: If you follow the blog regularly you know that Tonka and I walk everyday, twice a day, pretty much no matter what. The only things that can stop us are illness, injury or major weather event. We are like the postal service! Usually the illness or injury if on my side and our awesome support team of friends and family make sure that Tonka still gets his walks. Tonka considers major weather events to be things like tornado, flash flood or heavy rain (Tonka hates the rain). We don't walk in tornado's or flash floods but we do walk in rain and in a downpour I have a golf umbrella that I hold over the Tonka Man and a great raincoat for me.  If you share your life with a polar Pyrenees then you also know that they think bitter cold windy days are the best with only one thing that can top temperatures in the teens- SNOW! My first Pyr Myatuk would go out and dance when the snow first starting falling. Just the sight of the wonderful white flakes falling would set her into the happy dance. With Tonka it has to actually be on the ground otherwise it's just cold rain falling since he can't see the difference. Yesterday was the first snow here and he was beside himself. He ran and pranced, head and tail as high as he could get them unfortuantely it was too dark to get a picture of us running down the street to get to the field to play but believe me he was one happy boy.

Tonka's "Chair"

CM here, now that Tonka has decided that he does like being in the snow it can be very interesting to see what he does in it.

This past Sunday on Tonka's routine "play date" with his girlfriend Nala he bounced around and ate snow; all the things that a normal Pyr or any dog would do. After watching him romp and play, the sun was beating down on me. Now I don't have FUR, unless I haven't shaved by legs in a while and then I plead the 5th.

So I had bundled myself up like Randy from "A Christmas Story" and hoped that I didn't have to pee! At least I could put my arms down, but I still walked liked my legs had no knees.

So as the "children" played; I got tired and hot just standing there. So I decided to sit down in the snow to cool off; but also knowing that it could be difficult getting back up! :)

After a while I decided to get up, and that is when the BLIND boy decided to come RUNNING to me! I still don't understand how he knows how to ALWAYS find me! Then Tonka decided that he was tired also; and he sat down on me just as pretty as you please.**

When he was "rested" he got up and kept playing. Like I've said in other postings....I AM COMING BACK AS A BIG WHITE BLIND DOG!! They can do ANYTHING and get away with it.

Snow -Not So Much....

OK Pyrenees are supposed to love the snow but to me it's very confusing. It wipes out my familiar smells and I end up bumping into things that I usually don't. I also don't like it when it comes down really fast or in big flakes because then it's like rain and it bothers my eyes. AP and I walked to Nala's and we played for awhile and tonight she made walkways for me in the backyard but I will be glad when it is gone.

I do like to eat it though..........

Middleburg Parade

Everyone knows I love a parade! We had to get up really early this morning and drive in the rain to a little town called Middleburg. They have a Christmas parade every year and my rescue group gets to be part of the parade and this year we are expecting 50 pyrs to turn out. They have horses and hounds and Santa in his sleigh.
When we got there it was really start to snow. We walked down to the Wylie Wagg store and bought some goodies and a red jingle bell collar for me to wear in the parade. We had to wait for while for the start of the parade and I got to hang out with all my friends.

We had a great day even though it was really cold and snowy and we had 40 pyrs walking in the parade.
