SPCA Annapolis Walk for the Animals

Today was  a big day. Aunt Carol and Nala came to the house really early and helped AP and CM load up the truck to go to Annapolis for the Walk for the Animals. Nala and I go every year and it is so much fun.

When we got there Nala was very excited and kept telling AP to hurry up and get everything back together so we could go see everyone. She was talking up a storm.

While the humans were fooling around with everything Nala and I were saying Hi to everyone and all the other dogs in the parking lot.

 Then we were off up the hill to the walk.....

It is always a great time and a lot of my human friends from GAVH are there to give me some love and cookies. I also got to "see" my Aunt Pam from my neighborhood who was volunteering to help check people in and my Aunt Gina, Uncle Mike and Hannah who were there working and Ms. Kelly and some of the staff from Pet Barn.

 I love this event because I get to see so many of my doggie friends.

I got tired so AP put me in the stroller with the help of Kee-Kee from GAVH. She is always so helpful to AP and me.

Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital Pet of the Month

I love everyone at Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital. AP has been taking me there since I was a little guy. I love going in the door and up to the counter where Ms. Denise gives me treats. All the people are always nice to me and I get lots of attention so I don't mind going there. I even don't mind when Tom trims my nails or sticks me with a needle although I do fight him sometimes on clipping my front paws. 

AP told me they made me Pet of the Month which is a very big honor. She said they even put up my story and picture on their website - how cool is that? http://www.gavh.com/pet-of-the-month/ 

Happy 5th Birthday Tonka Dog

Since Tonka came from a shelter we don't exactly have an actual birth date for him so the vet techs at GAVH gave him December 7th. That is also Pearl harbor Day so it does make it easy to remember. This year his birthday happened to fall on a an underwater treadmill therapy day which meant getting into "water" one of Tonka's last favorite things. It actually meant the "w" word twice because once we are home from treadmill he then gets an actual bath. I felt bad that he was going to have to get wet twice on his birthday but the treadmill is helping him so I did not want to cancel.
What I didn't know is that it was also going to be raining for his birthday so he was going to have a very wet day.

We started the day with a walk in the rain and it was not coming down too hard when we first went out. We made it all the way to the park and the sky opened up and we had to take shelter under the jungle gym.

Later in the day we went to the Canine Fitness Center and he walked on the Underwater Treadmill. Diana and Chris gave him some extra birthday attention which made him happy. He has been doing really well on the treadmill and is up to (2) five minute sessions with a 2 minute rest in between.

Once we were home the boy had a bath and relaxed while I blew him dry. Of course Tonka is always relaxed and can fall asleep during anything.

I think all in all he had a pretty good day!

Acupuncture

I had acupuncture today with Dr. Phillips at GAVH
She stuck some little needles in me (even one in my head). She read through my very large file before our appointment and knew all about all my medical challenges. Maybe this will make my leg work again. She uses these little needles and they don't hurt at all. You can barely see the one in my head.

9 Month Checkup and What is That on My Butt?

I got to see Dr. Weigt at Animal Eye Care Associates today and she checked my Bionic Eye and was really happy at how it is doing. She checked the pressure in my good/bad eye and it was up a little but nothing to worry about. She said my eye is stable and should not cause me any problems. I still have to get a drop of medicine in it every night which I don't like much but I can deal with it if it keeps my eye in check. Everyone fussed over me and I got some treats so it was all good!
Next up was Dr. Daher at Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital to check out this cyst thing on my left hind end, right before my tail. It has been there for a long time but lately I am very interested in it. To get to it I have to twist myself like a pretzel and then I walk around and around in a circle bouncing off the walls and the sofa. I almost fell down the steps so AP said we had to come get it checked out. Dr. Daher gave me some numbing medicine and then flushed it out and packed it with some other numbing stuff and some medicine to help it heal. Everyone fussed over me and I got some more treats but I was ready to be done with Dr.'s for the day.
