Trick or Treat

Halloween is one of my favoritist holidays cuz the kids come to me.....

AP and CM dress up and hand out candy to the kids and I get to say hi to them as they come by. This year AP put my Big Dog Bed out front and I greeted everyone as they walked up the driveway.

A Really Good Day

I had therapy this morning with Chris and Diana at CVSS and then a heart checkup right after with Jamie and Dr. Rosenthal at CVCA. Jamie ran some tests and said I was perfect and Dr. Rosenthal listened to my heart with his special 2 sided stethoscope and said my heart was doing great. He said I might get to go to another pediatric picnic like I did last year which would be lots of fun.

I got to lay outside and sniff the breezes

I got to "see" some of my kids that I hadn't seen in  months.

I played Tug with Nala

All in all in was a really good day!

Tonka Goes Back to School

I went back to school yesterday but not for obedience. I got to go to a school with "kids" my most favoritist things in the whole world. Dr. Weigt who takes care of my eyes called AP and needed a "show and tell" dog for a career day talk she was giving and asked if I could go. AP thought it would be good for me since I have been through so much lately. We went to 2 classrooms and Dr. Weigt showed a slide show and let the kids look in her eye with the slit lamp microscope which is what she looks in my eyes with. When they were finished with the microscope they got to pet me, it was so much fun. I showed off a little at the end with a few tricks and I kissed a few ears. I was very tired at the end of it and Dr. Weigt even said to AP that I was not my pre surgery energetic self. I hope adjusting my meds helps perk me up - see http://blinddogsrule.blogspot.com/2011/05/results-are-in.html .

Whew What a Weekend

I was so busy this weekend.
Saturday morning I played with Nala at the park and later when I went out for my afternoon walk I ran into Santa Claus. The fire department was driving him through the neighborhood so that the reindeer can rest up for the big night. He was right down the street with all my kids handing out candy canes. I got to say hi and see my kids which was very cool. I told him I was sorry about my temper tantrum the other night and I would be good the rest of the week.

On Sunday morning I ran into my friend Jim who always has treats in his pocket and he gave me 2. When I got to the park Cooper was there. I haven't played with Cooper in a long time and we had so much fun. When I got home I wrestled with CM and followed her around the house for most of the morning. Around 2 I wanted to go for another walk so AP and I went out for about an hour or so. None of my friends were out and I didn't want to go home so I kept trying to back track and go down streets we don't normally go down.AP finally caught on that I was stalling and made me go home. She reminded me that I had told Santa I would be good.

Spring and My Favorite Things

Next to Chicken Strips and Belly Rubs spring brings my favorite thing in the whole world - Kids! In the spring they all come out to play games and sports. They ride bikes and scooters and are just everywhere. I love kids- they are so much fun. I have 3 that live on my street that run to meet me when they see me and they laugh and pet me while I try to give them all big kisses. They also ring the doorbell when I am in the foyer sleeping to wake me up and then I get to go outside and play with them. Last night AP and I were walking through Nala's neighborhood and a group of kids were playing a game and one little girl saw me and yelled- TIME-OUT TO PET THE BIG WHITE DOG! They had to stop the game while she came over to pet me. I love kids!

Dogs and Children

We went out for our walk really late tonight and the football kids were just leaving the field. A little girl came up and asked AP if she could pet me. She also wanted to know if I would bite. AP explained that I wouldn't bite but I might move my head around to sniff her since I can't see. She asked my name and wanted to know why I couldn't see. She had a hard time with Tonka so it came out Conka. AP told her my eyes were broken inside when I was born and she waved her hand in front of my face and said "I'm right here Conka". She was petting me and talking to me and then asked me to sit so I sat down. Even sitting I was taller than her. I decided to flop down and she got down next to me and kept petting me and when it was time to go she took my head in both hands and said very softly "bye Conka" and gave AP a big hug. I like kids.
